Bhopal, Aug 18 (PTI) The Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday decided to implement projects worth more than Rs 492 crore in the field of science and technology in the next five years and also provide artificial intelligence (AI) skills training to over one crore youth besides.
The government also decided to provide free online coaching for competitive exams to youths in the BJP-ruled state, responding to an announcement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Independence Day.
These were among a set of decisions taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, state PWD Minister Rakesh Singh told reporters.
“The Chief Minister today made a major decision regarding science and technology. The state government will implement projects worth more than Rs 492 crore in the field of science and technology in the next five years,” he said.
This decision will definitely transform Madhya Pradesh’s science and technology landscape, he maintained.
Singh said during the Congress government’s tenure, the budget allocated for science and technology was merely Rs 6 crore, and this demonstrated their neglect of the key field.
He asserted Madhya Pradesh will play a significant role in achieving the resolutions announced by PM Modi during his address from the Red Fort on the 80th Independence Day.
Singh said the cabinet decided to launch village-to-village and school-to-school search campaigns to discover sporting talent among children aged 5 to 15 years.
“Children selected during the campaigns will undergo specialized training to become better athletes,” the minister stated.
Singh said the cabinet also decided to provide free online coaching to competitive exams aspirants and also provide artificial intelligence (AI) skills training to over one crore youth over the next year.
Key announcements made by the PM in his Independence Day speech included providing free online coaching to students, imparting AI skills training to youths, nurturing rural sports talent, and giving special emphasis on science and technology.
Singh said the cabinet meeting noted Dindori district in the state achieving the first rank in the country for the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana.
The CM and his cabinet colleagues congratulated Dindori district administration officials for this achievement, said Singh.
Dindori’s successful model would be replicated in other districts of the state, so that they, too, can perform better in implementation of the scheme, the minister added.
The yojana covering 100 districts seeks to converge 36 existing schemes and increase adoption of crop diversification and sustainable agricultural practices. PTI MAS RSY
