Shivpuri, Sep 27 (PTI) A black stray dog bit more than 35 people, including children, in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri city before being captured by a municipal team, officials said.
The dog went on a biting spree in Manier, Gurudwara Chauraha, Loharpura and near the Radha Raman temple in Purani Shivpuri between Saturday evening and Sunday morning, they said.
District hospital nurse Rashmi Solanki said they had administered anti-rabies vaccines to nearly 35 persons by 10 am on Sunday. Some injured individuals apparently also sought treatment at private hospitals, she said.
Manier resident Rupesh Upadhyay said around five persons, including his brother Hridesh and a six-year-old child, were bitten by the dog in the area.
The civil surgeon of the district hospital informed the municipal authorities about the incident.
Municipal chief officer Yashwant Rathore said a team caught the dog on Sunday.
Whether the dog has rabies will be determined after observing its behaviour for some time, Rathore said. PTI COR LAL NR
