Aizawl, Jun 8 (PTI) Mizoram has completed the distribution of more than 96 per cent of Enumeration Forms (EFs) to over 8.75 lakh voters in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Garima Gupta said on Monday.
Gupta told a news conference that 19.13 per cent of the distributed EFs have been collected or verified, and 19.14 per cent have been digitised.
Of the total 8.75 lakh voters, EFs were distributed to over 8.42 lakh, which is 96.26 per cent, by Booth Level Officers till Monday, she said.
The SIR was launched in Mizoram on May 20 and is being carried out across the state as per the directive of the Election Commission.
The enumeration phase is scheduled to be completed on June 28, and the draft rolls will be published on July 5, Gupta said.
Under the revision exercise, all existing voters as well as eligible citizens seeking inclusion in the voters’ list are required to submit fresh applications, the CEO said.
She said that the exercise is intended to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll while simultaneously removing the names of ineligible persons.
The CEO urged all eligible residents to participate in the revision process and ensure that their names are correctly included in the new electoral roll. PTI CORR NN
