Meerut (UP), Aug 8 (PTI) Three alleged kidnappers were arrested, and a nine-month-old girl was rescued from them here on Saturday, police said on Saturday.
Circle Officer (Cantonment) Sanjay Kumar Gupta said they had received information about the incident on August 5 around 3 am. The infant was sleeping with her mother, a homeless person, near the Begumpul Metro Station when the men riding a motorcycle kidnapped her.
He said a case was registered and four police teams were formed to trace the girl.
Gupta said police first examined CCTV footage from the Begumpul Metro Station, which showed two young men carrying the girl. Based on their description, other CCTV cameras in the vicinity were examined They then scanned approximately 200 CCTV cameras installed along possible routes the girl might have been taken, including Begumpul, Hapur Adda, Zero Mile, and Humayunpur, Gupta said.
After an intensified search, three accused were arrested, who were later identified as Yusuf and Husne Alam, residents of Kamalpur, and Akbar, a resident of the Lohia Nagar police station area.
The police officer said that their interrogation revealed that Yusuf and Husne Alam had kidnapped the girl and had called Akbar to hand her over.
