Chatra, Aug 17 (PTI) An area commander of the banned Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee, a Maoist splinter group, was arrested in Jharkhand’s Chatra district, police said on Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Lakshman Ganjhu alias Mochhu (40) from his native village Paramatu within Lawalong police station limits on Sunday.

He had come there to attend a shraddha ritual, they said.

“The accused was arrested from his native village on Sunday. He is associated with the TSPC and was wanted for the killing of two policemen in 2024,” Chatra SP Animesh Naithany told reporters.

At least three criminal cases are pending against him in two police stations in Chatra district, he said. PTI COR RPS RPS MNB
