Lucknow, Jun 8 (PTI) A 55-year-old man on Monday stabbed his wife to death in Azad Nagar under the Maal police station area here, police said.
The accused has been identified as Jitendra Pratap Singh and the victim as Monika Singh, they said.
On Monday at around 3.30 pm, Maal police station received information that a man had stabbed his wife to death in Azad Nagar under the Maal police station.
“The body of the deceased was found in one of the rooms of the house. A forensic team was summoned to the scene to collect necessary evidence. The accused was immediately detained by the police,” police said in a statement.
After being detained, the accused was sent for a medical examination.
“Doctors suspected that the accused might have consumed a toxic substance. Given his health condition, he has been referred to the district hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment,” the police said.
Based on the complaint lodged by Anshuman Singh, the elder son of the deceased, a case was registered against Jitendra Pratap Singh under section 103 (punishment for murder) of the BNS, police said, and added that all aspects of the case are being investigated. PTI NAV APL APL
