Gurugram, Aug 8 (PTI) A man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly attacking a priest with a sharp-edged weapon over his prolonged stay at a temple with his family here in Bhangrola village, police said.
A farsa used in the crime was also recovered from his possession, they added.
According to the police, the priest had filed a complaint that accused Shiv Kumar allegedly attacked him from behind with a farsa on Friday when he was lying on a cot behind the temple, injuring his neck and shoulder, causing him to become unconscious.
The complainant alleged that Shiv Kumar had attacked him with the intention of killing him.
According to the complaint, the priest had been serving at the Shiv Shani Temple since 2006, and had seen Kumar regularly visiting the temple for prayers.
“During preliminary police interrogation, it was revealed that the victim (priest) was residing at the temple along with his family, which was allegedly a matter of objection for the accused. Therefore, the accused allegedly committed the above-mentioned crime. We are questioning the accused”, a spokesperson of Gurugram police said.
After the complaint, police arrested Shiv Kumar (33), a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Bela Baga village, and currently residing in Bhangrola village. PTI COR KSI KSI
