Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Saturday refused to address a programme being held to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, citing “humiliation”.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Governor Jagdeep Dhankar were also present at the event in Kolkata’s famous Victoria Memorial.
Banerjee refused to speak at the event after a section from the audience shouted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ when Banerjee was about to deliver her speech. She, however, didn’t walk out of the venue.
“This is a government programme and there must be some decorum and discipline here. It should have some dignity,” she said.
“It is not a political programme. You cannot invite people here and insult them. I am invited and humiliated. In protest, I am not saying anything (referring to her speech),” she said and went back to her seat.
Banerjee held various state government’s programmes related to Netaji’s birthday celebrations Saturday before reaching the Victoria Memorial to attend the central government’s programme.

Nobody is asking the key Question. Would Mamata had refused to speak if slogan allah’o’akabar were shouted?
In past Indians were fighting among themselves for the benefit of British.
How different this is from many Bangalis claiming their deity is Durga not Rama. Hindus respect all Hindu deities. so this can be seen as British type attempt by heirs of British, Nehru secularists.
Only non-Christian, non-Muslim Indians who don’t respect Rama are Rakshsha. Is Mamata a Rakshashi? Are TMC modern day Rakshasha?
Why is she offended? Is she a Hindu or Taqiyya?
Not only CM Mamata Bannerjee but all the and secular Hindus do not publicly shout Jai Sri Ram as it has negative connation of Jai Shri Ram Chant as it became a War Cry for attacking and lynching Muslims. From Tabrez Ansari to Faisal Khan, recent anti-Muslim hate crimes have a common thread: the slogan Jai Sri Ram. Mamta Didi is a very learned lady and well behaved secular woman and rightly refused to chant the slogan. Since India is a secular country, therefore every Indian must appreciate Mamata Bannerjee.
When you are stressed, 8t is difficult for you to speak. It happens. People who proclaim Mahatma Gandhi as secular should also visit his samadhi to check what is written there. It did not make Gandhi a fundamentalist.
All she had to do was say “haan jai shri ram jai durga jai hind”. I don’t understand why TMC thinks jai shree ram is an insult.
Raising (not chanting!) “Jai Sriram”, or for that matter “Allah be praised” or “praise the lord”, can be at worst a misplaced cry in a public meeting to honour a Great. But definitely it cannot be termed insulting. Mamata and the TMC needs to rethink their politics for the sake of democracy. It is only for those with a low self-esteem such cries will seem insulting.
Mamata is Rakshshi, an Ogress.
Her ministers and MLAs are leaving her party. If that is not ‘humiliation’, what is it then?
Didi is scared. This is the beginning. Now wherever she goes, she has to hear these slogans.
The bone chilling message to HINDUS from “THE DIDI ” is clear.
“THE DIDI ” will form a army of the faithful to enslave INFIDELS.
If someone is offended at Jai Sri Ram,
it is likely a Madrasha educated person, not any Hindu.
” THE DIDI ” in her earlier political affiliation learned the politics of ” DIVIDE HINDUS AND RULE “.
” THE DIDI ” has added her religious beliefs to her political ideology wherein she wants to “BULLY AND CONQUER”. Her current ideology differentiates between a BELIEVER and infidels.
HINDUS must vote for a party which will not discriminate against HINDUS and protect their progressive culture from RIOTERS AND PROSELYTIZERS.
