New Delhi, Aug 11 (PTI) Delhi Police has prohibited kite flying and the use of other aerial objects at or around places in central Delhi where Independence Day-related programmes or public gatherings are being organised, citing security concerns.
The order, issued by Central District Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohit Rajbir Singh under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), came into force with immediate effect and will remain in force till August 16, both days inclusive, unless withdrawn earlier.
According to the order, kite flying from rooftops, public places and other elevated locations could pose a risk to pedestrians, motorists and other members of the public and may result in accidents and injuries.
It also said increased kite-flying activity during Independence Day celebrations could cause obstruction and inconvenience to the public.
The order further prohibits activities likely to cause obstruction, danger, annoyance or inconvenience to the public or disturb peace and tranquillity during the celebrations.
All persons, establishments, institutions and organisers in central district have been directed to comply with police instructions related to Independence Day security arrangements.
Any person violating the order will be liable for action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the order said.
