Amaravati, Aug 12 (PTI) YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday directed party legislators to raise issues of public interest and expose the alleged “failures” of the TDP-led government in the upcoming Assembly sessions scheduled to begin from August 17.

Addressing YSRCP legislative party members at the party’s central office in Tadepalli, the former CM criticised the NDA coalition government for withholding the Leader of Opposition status from YSRCP, despite it being the principal opposition party.

He claimed that this move was a calculated effort to silence the opposition. However, Jagan vowed to highlight key issues through the media to keep the public informed.

“YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has instructed the Party legislators to be vigilant and raise issues of public interest in the coming Assembly sessions and expose the failures of the government,” said a YSRCP press release.

Jagan urged the MLCs to leverage the party’s strength in the Legislative Council to champion the public causes. He emphasised confronting the government over alleged irregularities in teacher recruitment.

Jagan referred to YSRCP’s sustained protests over the past 74 days on District Selection Committee (DSC) – 2025 examination, placing all the “evidence” to establish the party’s viewpoint.

He cited the “leakage and outsourcing scandals, irregularities in spots quota” and demanded a CBI inquiry.

Jagan also instructed members to press for immediate discussions on mounting student welfare arrears, including pending fee reimbursements.

On the farmers’ issues, Jagan called on party legislators to hold the government accountable for failing to ensure minimum support price (MSP) for crops, lack of sufficient water and alleged suspension of free crop insurance, pushing farmers into distress.

Further, Jagan said providing viability gap funding for PPP projects and granting concessions to private players places an undue burden on the taxpayers.

According to him, the TDP government was planning to privatise public services into the “orbit of private sector” and asked party legislators to question this approach strongly, among others issues.

The legislators were asked to enter the House fully prepared with all data to challenge the government.

However, there is no clarity if Jagan and YSRCP MLAs would attend the House although the party’s MLCs are likely to attend the Council session. PTI STH SA
