Shimla, Oct 30 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday virtually inaugurated a community health centre (CHC) building in the Sirmaur district.
Constructed at a cost of Rs 6.92 crore, the six-bedded facility is expected to improve access to healthcare services in remote areas of the district, an official statement said.
Speaking on the occasion, Sukhu said the health centre would benefit around 50,000 people across 20 gram panchayats and 47 villages in the surrounding areas.
The facility would provide round-the-clock healthcare services, enabling residents to access timely medical treatment closer to their homes, he said.
The state government is committed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure, particularly in rural and remote areas, to reduce the need for people to travel long distances for essential medical services, the chief minister added.
Two medical officers and a staff nurse have already been posted at the centre, he said.
Sukhu also announced that the Government Senior Secondary School at Sangrah would be upgraded to a CBSE-affiliated institution. He further said that the proposal to set up a milk-chilling plant with a capacity of 5,000 litres per day in the area would be considered. PTI BPL SMV
