Gurugram, Aug 18 (PTI) A health department employee was caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 2.50 lakh in Nuh district, officials said on Tuesday.
Monu Sharma, a multipurpose health worker at the Primary Healthcare Centre in Pinangwan, Nuh, allegedly sought the money in exchange for changing a medical sample.
Dr Birpal, the SMO at the healthcare centre, was also made an accused in the case, according to the Haryana State Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB), which made the arrest.
According to the agency, a complaint was filed on August 13, stating that the complainant’s son was booked at the local police station under Section 4(2) of the POCSO Act, 2012 and Section 351(3) of the BNS.
During the son’s medical examination, Monu Sharma allegedly contacted the complainant and said he could change the victim’s medical sample and give a favourable opinion in the Medical Legal Report (MLR).
Initially, he sought a bribe of Rs 15,000, out of which Rs 5,000 was paid in cash and Rs 10,000 was transferred to a phone number.
Monu Sharma allegedly remained in contact with the complainant, continuing to demand money to settle the matter, offering favourable action.
He further demanded a bribe of Rs 3.50 lakh and asked the complainant to bring Rs 2.50 lakh. This is when the complainant approached the anti-corruption bureau.
A trap was laid and Monu Sharma was caught taking the bribe money.
