The chief minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, inaugurated the new terminal building and said that it will help in improving tourism, employment and regional connectivity. He added that after the construction of the new terminal building, the capacity of the airport will increase to 47 lakh passengers annually. He said the airport has a runway of 2140 metres and an Apron with 20 parking bays.
The new terminal building is equipped with passenger amenities including 48 check-in counters, four conveyor belts, 12 baggage X-ray machines and a parking facility for 500 cars. The average peak hour capacity of the new terminal is expected to be 3,240 passengers.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on the occasion that the new terminal building is a combination of culture, nature and modern architecture. He said it will help in providing new strength to the industry, employment and tourism in the area. He added that the government is working with full dedication to provide better air services to the common man.
