Mumbai: Ten days after she confronted Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan in Worli, Teena Choudhry came out with a video in which she presented her account of the episode and urged the people not make her “a proxy” to take swipe at others.
The Mumbai resident was stuck in traffic for 25 minutes on 21 April while on her way to pick up her daughter from a music class. She stepped out of her car to find that the buses ahead were parked and not moving.
“For the next hour and a half, I went up to every single police officer present there to request that if they could just have the two buses moved, all of us who were stuck there could make a U-turn and join the main road,” she said in a video that was shared Saturday by news agency ANI.
“I received no reaction, no response. Nobody, not a single person, heard my voice,” she added.

In a video shared widely, the woman wearing a black cap confronts Mahajan during a BJP rally in protest against the defeat of the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha. At one point, she is seen throwing a bottle in the clip.
“I did not throw that bottle at any protester or towards the rally; rather, I threw it on the ground to attract the attention of the police personnel, because there was a divider right in front of me, waist-high,” she said, adding that eight family members had served in the Army.
In her video, Teena credited Mahajan for aiding her and instructing that traffic be moved.
“Regarding my outburst with Mr. Mahajan: by then, it was 6:15 PM, and I had no idea when I would be able to reach my child. Mr. Mahajan was actually the only person in that rally who, at the very least, tried to listen to what I was actually saying. Acting on his instructions, the two buses were moved, and we were all able to make a U-turn and merge onto the main road.”
She also urged the public not to take potshots at anyone at her expense.
“Please, do not use my shoulder to take aim or take potshots at anyone. Because all political parties are guilty of the exact same offense: utter disregard and absolute apathy toward the general public.”
Refraining from positioning herself as a messiah, she urged the public to speak for themselves. “Please do not use me as a proxy to take aim at others. I’ve read many messages saying you’d like me to be your voice; why? You have a voice of your own,” Teena asserted.
Though a complaint was filed against the woman, the Mumbai Police had later clarified that no case was registered against her.
