Hyderabad, Oct 9 (PTI) Hitting out at Congress, Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday alleged that Congress is conspiring to weaken Constitutional institutions by making false allegations against them to gain political mileage.
Rahul Gandhi’s allegations against the Election Commission over SIR are part of this political conspiracy, he said in a statement here.
Congress has spread disinformation against the CAG, judiciary, parliament and Election Commission whenever their functioning did not suit its political interests, he alleged.
Rahul Gandhi termed the Comptroller and Auditor General ‘Chowkidar Auditor General’ in 2019 while rejecting the CAG’s audit report on the Rafale fighter jet deal, he said.
Rahul Gandhi also levelled allegations against prestigious educational institutions in the country, including IITs, Indian Statistical Institute and Central Universities in the past, he said.
The Congress leader also “spewed venom” against the Army and the Central armed forces, Reddy alleged.
The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha also did not hesitate to hurt the country’s prestige through foreign universities, foreign media and at international fora, he said.
He had commented on foreign soil that democracy and the process of elections collapsed in India, he said.
Claiming that such an attitude is not new for Rahul Gandhi, the Union Minister recalled that the Gandhi scion insulted the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in 2013 by tearing an ordinance issued by the UPA government.
Similarly, former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao was insulted as his mortal remains were not allowed inside the AICC headquarters in Delhi.
Observing that India is a democratic country and not a monarchy of the Nehru family, Reddy said Constitutional institutions would not function according to Rahul Gandhi’s political convenience.
Asserting that the Constitution prepared by B R Ambedkar would continue regardless of the Congress party’s political fortunes, he said the people of the country would never elect Congress to power as the party is known for “family rule and corruption”. PTI SJR SJR ADB
