Mumbai, Aug 8 (PTI) A 47-year-old employee of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) died after falling from a height while inspecting a possible dengue breeding site in central Mumbai on Saturday, officials said.
The incident occurred at BDD Chawl No. 6-A in the Bhoiwada area around 3 pm, they said.
As per the civic body, Pandurang Todkar from its Pest Control Operation Department was inspecting a water tank in the building when he accidentally fell from a height of five to seven feet.
A BMC official said Todkar was rushed to the civic-run KEM Hospital in Parel, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
After learning about the accident, Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde visited the hospital and met Todkar’s son Sairaj and other family members, offering her condolences, said officials.
She directed the civic administration to immediately initiate the process to extend all pensionary benefits due to the Todkar family and provide a municipal job to an eligible heir of the deceased, they added. PTI KK NR
