New Delhi, May 29 (PTI) Under the ongoing houselisting phase of Census 2027, over one crore people and 24.57 lakh households in 12 MCD districts of the capital have been covered as month-long exercise reaches its midway mark, officials said on Friday.
The houselisting operations (HLO) was already concluded in the New Delhi district, covering New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Delhi Cantonment Board areas.
According to the official figures, a total of 24,57,224 households were listed in 12 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) districts, covering a population of 1.05 crore.
The exercise began in these areas on May 16, and is scheduled to conclude on June 14.
There are more than 45,000 houselisting blocks (HLBs) in MCD areas, each comprising 180-200 households.
The New Delhi district, where houselisting was conducted from April 16 to May 15, around 63,000 households and 2.5 lakh persons were listed, officials said.
In MCD zones, the population and households listed till May 28 were 15,72,113 and 3,27,106, respectively, in North East district, followed by 12,93,353 and 3,02,911 in South East, 12,74,069 and 3,12,974 in South West, and 11,04,505 and 3,12,974 in East Delhi district, according to official data.
In comparison, 2,81,257 persons and 59,952 households were listed in Old Delhi district till Thursday. The population and households listed in Central district were 4,02,956 and 99,771, respectively.
A list of 33 questions have been notified by the Centre for people to answer during the houselisting exercise. These include address details, predominant materials used in the floor, wall, and roof of the house, total number of occupants, and the name of the head of the household.
House ownership details, number of rooms, main source of drinking water, lighting, access to toilet and bathroom, cooking fuel, main cereal consumed, the use of mobile phones and other electronics, and vehicles owned by the household are among other questions.
Census 2027 will be undertaken in two phases. The ongoing houselisting and housing phase will be followed by population enumeration — set to begin in February 2027 — which will collect demographic and socio-economic data. PTI VIT ARB ARB
