New Delhi: BITS Pilani’s Conquest, India’s first and largest student-run startup accelerator, recently hosted an immersive virtual event called the India Portfolio Summit. It was an event designed for new and excited startup enthusiasts to learn from the experiences of field experts.

The startup world in India has a huge scope for growth, and Conquest is aimed at tapping into this environment of innovation and entrepreneurship. The two-day summit organised from 27-28 May presented an encouraging narrative of growth in India’s businesses, the rise and success of India’s entrepreneurs, and the impact of technological advancements in this industry.

The summit had sessions from industry stalwarts, like Divya Gokulnath, the co-founder of BYJU’s. She spoke about how technology such as artificial intelligence is changing the landscape of education. The summit also featured sessions by other visionaries like Naiyya Saggi, the co-founder of The Good Glamm Group, talking about the changing beauty industry. She also shed light on the world of brand building, the changes in the beauty industry, and the future scope of the entrepreneurship world.

How is the journey from startup conception to becoming a thriving unicorn? Well, BITS Pilani’s summit featured many entrepreneurs and industry leaders like Sandeep Aggarwal from Droom, Nilesh Patel from LeadSquared, Smita Deorah from Lead School, and Vishesh Khurana from Shiprocket, who talked to budding startup leaders about this journey.

At every turn, the summit wanted to inspire and surprise the attendees. Not only were there speakers from different fields, but there were also sector-specific talks that delved deeper into the opportunities available in the world by merging different technologies and startups. Healthtech was a popular sector, and the summit featured Rizwan Koita of CitiusTech and Harsimarbir Singh of Pristyn Care, who gave very valuable insights into the field.

Along with that, AgriTech was a sector that was explored by Sharath Loganathan from NinjaCart and Sanjay Dasari from Waycool, who were industry experts as well as pathbreakers and disruptors. Attendees also interacted with gaming experts like Nitish Mittersain from Nazara Technologies, and others explored the dynamic world of finance with Amit Agarwal from InsuranceDekho.

The India Portfolio Summit by Conquest was successful in every way. It provided people with the knowledge to navigate the world of startups. Industry leaders guided the attendees and provided exposure to cutting-edge innovations that would one day help incoming entrepreneurs.

Conquest is now preparing for its upcoming cohort of 22 startups, selected from a pool of more than 2,000 registrations. These startups will embark on a 7-week hybrid accelerator program featuring personalised mentoring, industry-led workshops, and fireside chats with leading figures. The program will culminate in Bangalore’s highly anticipated Demo Day, where startups will get to pitch in Shark Tank style for equity-free grants.
