Patna, Aug 8 (PTI) Days after a 60-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by a landowner for seeking his farm labourer son’s unpaid wages in Bihar’s Rohtas, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday accused the BJP-led government of “protecting criminals”..
Chandreshwar Chaudhary was killed, and the body dumped into a nearby canal allegedly by one Ajit Tiwari on August 4 in Jogiya village. Officials said the body was recovered from the canal on Thursday.
Rohtas Superintendent of Police Raushan Kumar said the accused and his son Ritik Tiwari have been arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur.
“A man had gone to a landlord to demand the wage due to his son, but was murdered. I am going to meet the family members of the victims, who belong to the extremely backward class. I will provide some financial assistance to them on behalf of the party,” Yadav, a senior RJD leader, said.
Before leaving for Rohtas to meet the family members of the deceased, he alleged that the Samrat Choudhary government in Bihar was attempting to “protect criminals” in the state.
“Ever since the government led by Samrat Choudhary has assumed charge of the state, there has been an unprecedented rise in crime. Unfortunately, an attempt is being made to protect criminals in Bihar,” Yadav said.
