Guwahati, Aug 7 (PTI) Police raided an illegal slaughterhouse in Assam’s Nagaon district on Friday and arrested one person, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Several cattle and buffaloes, along with suspected beef, were also seized in the operation.

“In an early morning operation in Nagaon, @assampolice busted an illegal slaughterhouse operated by Noor Ali and Noor Zaman, seizing 285 kg of suspected beef, 36 cattle and 2 buffaloes,” Sarma said in a post on X.

He said that one Asab Ali has been arrested, while the other two accused are being “actively pursued”.

The chief minister asserted that there is zero tolerance for illegal cattle smuggling and unlawful slaughter in the state, and those involved will face the full force of the law. PTI SSG SSG RG
