Guwahati, Jul 29 (PTI) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday congratulated students on the passage of the anti-paper leak Bill, saying the legislation would provide them with a fair and transparent examination system.
He said the new law would strengthen the country’s exam process and ensure its integrity.
“Congratulations to all students of the country on the passage of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha,” Sarma said in a post on X.
He said the Bill will strengthen the examination process in India, maintain its integrity and provide students a fair and transparent system.
“The Bill will ensure strict punishments, establish Special Fast Track Courts and assure time-bound investigations into any cases of misconduct. Under the leadership of Adarniya @narendramodi ji, the Central Govt remains committed to a better future for our students,” Sarma added.
The Lok Sabha approved the Bill to amend the anti-paper leak law with stricter punishment, with the government asserting that the measure was taken as it is “open to learning from experiences”.
The Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 provides for the proceedings of paper leak cases in the special fast-track courts to be continued on a daily basis and the trial be completed within three months from the date of filing of the charge sheet. PTI SSG SSG MNB
