Sri Vijaya Puram, Sep 27 (PTI) Andaman and Nicobar Islands Lieutenant Governor Dinesh Sharma visited Shaheed Dweep, formerly known as Neil Island, on Sunday to participate in a cleanliness campaign and attend programmes marking World Tourism Day.
He is on a two-day visit to the island.
The L-G led cleanliness drives at the popular Bharatpur Beach and Laxmanpur Sunset Beach, besides reviewing solid waste management arrangements on the island, according to an official statement.
He also visited the Shaheed Dweep Police Station and primary health centre, where he participated in cleanliness activities and took stock of basic public facilities. At the health centre, Sharma interacted with doctors and healthcare personnel and discussed the requirements and challenges faced by the facility.
The L-G also interacted with representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions, local public representatives and residents to hear their views on cleanliness, tourism, sanitation and other developmental issues. PTI COR NSD
