Gorakhpur, Jul 29 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday performed Guru Purnima prayers at the Gorakhnath Temple here in accordance with Nath sect traditions, an official statement said.
Adityanath, who is also the Gorakshapeethadhishwar, offered prayers to Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath, the late Mahant Avaidyanath, the late Mahant Digvijaynath, Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath and other revered Gurus of the Nath tradition.
The rituals, conducted amid Vedic chants, began early in the morning and concluded with a collective aarti. The chief minister also visited the shrines of various deities in the temple complex and paid respects at the samadhis of departed Gurus.
He also extended Guru Purnima greetings to the people of the country, the statement said.
After the prayers, he also held a janta darshan at the temple and heard people’s grievances.
The chief minister met people outside the Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhawan and assured them that their grievances would be addressed with seriousness and sensitivity.
He also assured those seeking financial assistance for treatment of serious illnesses that no patient’s treatment would be affected due to lack of funds and directed officials to expedite the preparation of treatment estimates for submission to the government. PTI ABN APL APL
