Prayagraj (UP), Aug 8 (PTI) The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Saturday took a Tiranga Yatra here to mark 150 years of Vande Mataram.
Carrying a 150-metre-long tricolour, a large number of students and youth participated in the Yatra from the Medical Chauraha to the Subhash Chauraha.
The Yatra sent a strong message of strengthening the spirit of ‘nation first’ among the youth, promoting national unity and integrity, and channelising youth power towards nation-building, the ABVP said in a statement.
It highlighted the ABVP’s belief that the youth are not just the builders of their own future, but also an important force in shaping the nation’s future, it said.
The ABVP believes that India’s journey towards becoming Viksit Bharat will be strengthened when the energy and potential of the youth are channelised towards constructive nation-building, the statement said.
ABVP’s Kashi region secretary Shivam Singh said, “Vande Mataram is not merely the national song, it represents India’s cultural identity and spirit of patriotism.
“Through this Tiranga Yatra, the ABVP seeks to strengthen the spirit of nation first among the youth and inspire them to understand their responsibilities towards nation-building.” The energy and potential of the youth can bring transformative changes, and the ABVP is committed to channelising this power towards the nation’s progress, he said.
ABVP’s Prayag Mahanagar secretary Prateek Mishra said, “The tricolour symbolises India’s unity, integrity and national pride. ABVP considers students a vital force for nation-building and continuously works to strengthen national consciousness and social responsibility among them.” India is observing a year-long nationwide commemoration of the 150th anniversary of its national song, Vande Mataram, which was composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875.
