Jamtara, Jul 31 (PTI) Three persons were arrested in Jharkhand’s Jamtara district for allegedly duping people through online transactions under the pretext of updating their bank KYC, police said on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted raids at two locations on Thursday and apprehended the three, Jamtara Superintendent of Police Shambhu Kumar Singh said.
The police seized six mobile phones, eight SIM cards, two ATM cards and a motorcycle from their possession, he said.
“They defrauded people by posing as customer care executives and bank officials. They used to offer to update KYC and withdraw money through their mobile number-linked e-wallets,” Singh said.
Two of the three accused hail from Jamtara Police Station limits, while one is from the Mihijaam PS area, another officer said. PTI RPS RPS BDC
