Forces gun down 3 terrorists likely involved in Pahalgam attack

Three terrorists believed to be involved in the Pahalgam attack were killed by security forces Monday in ongoing Operation Mahadev in Lidwas forest area in the outskirts of Srinagar. The Army, CRPF and Jammu & Kashmir Police are part of the joint operation. “Three terrorists have been neutralised in an intense firefight. Operation continues,” Srinagar-based Chinar Corps posted on X.

Debate in Parliament on Op Sindoor

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said Monday that India knows both the language of peace and force and highlighted the country’s desire for a prosperous and stable Pakistan, which Islamabad saw as weakness. “This was our thought. This reflected our thinking and India’s civilisational values, which view peace as a strength. However, it was misunderstood, our efforts for peace were mistaken for weakness,” he said speaking in Parliament. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also clarified: “At no stage in our conversations with the US (on Pahalgam attack) was there any conversation about trade.”

Protests in Lok Sabha on Bihar voter list revision

The Lok Sabha saw protests on the special intensive revision exercise in Bihar, delaying the start of discussion on Operation Sindoor. “There is something called commitment. Leaders of all parties had sought a discussion on Operation Sindoor and now you are in the well of the House raising other issues,” said Speaker Om Birla, addressing opposition members.

Earth observation NISAR satellite to launch on 30 July

ISRO chairman V. Narayanan said Monday the Earth observation satellite NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) will be launched on 30 July. The satellite will be the first to observe the Earth with a dual frequency synthetic aperture radar. It will observe the planet with a swathe of 242 km and high spatial resolution, using SweepSAR technology for the first time, according to the space agency.

IIM-C allows student on bail in rape case to attend classes

The Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta has allowed a student accused of rape and currently out on bail to attend classes. The 26-year-old student was permitted to attend classes on Monday, but he cannot stay in the hostel on campus until the Kolkata police conclude their investigation.

SC quashes FIR against shuttler Lakshya Sen

The Supreme Court has quashed an FIR against badminton player Lakshya Sen, along with his coach and family members in a birth certificate forgery case. A bench of Justices Sudhanshu Dhulia and Aravind Kumar said the continuation of criminal proceedings against the shuttler amounts to abuse of the process of court.

Delhi HC to hear pleas against release of Udaipur Files on 30 July

The Delhi High Court said Monday it would hear pleas against the Centre’s approval to release the film Udaipur Files on Wednesday. The court was also informed that an application has been made by the producers of the film to the Central Board of Film Certification for re-certification of the movie, and it is likely to be considered shortly.

SC raps minister for not apologising to Col Sofiya Qureshi 

The Supreme Court Monday pulled up Madhya Pradesh Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah for not publicly apologising for his remarks against Indian Army Officer Col Sofiya Qureshi. The bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi said his conduct was making the court doubt his intentions. The minister created controversy May 2025 when he referred to Col. Qureshi as a “sister of terrorists”.

6 killed in Punjab as vehicle plunges into canal

A pickup vehicle fell into the Sirhind canal in Ludhiana, Punjab, Sunday night, killing six persons. Police said the driver lost control while overtaking a vehicle at the bank of the canal. The incident involved a group of more than 25 devotees who were returning from Mata Naina Devi temple in Himachal Pradesh.

2 dead, 32 injured in UP temple stampede

Two people were killed and thirty-two injured Monday in a stampede at the Avsaneshwar temple in Barabanki, UP, after a live electric wire broken by monkeys fell on a tin shed, creating panic. Electric current spread through the tin shed when the wire fell, triggering the stampede.
