The photograph shows Lamba pointing to the Congress election symbol printed on the chest portion of her T-shirt. The text accompanying the photograph suggests that Lamba is “campaigning” for the Congress by pointing to the party’s election symbol. It also says such “obscene” election campaigning should be banned.

The photo, which was shared by a user who goes by the name of ‘Om Squirrel of RAM’, has been retweeted by multiple handles. The retweets and screenshots of the tweet too are being shared in large numbers.

One Twitter user named Preeti shared the picture with a derogatory text: “Invitation has been given, bhakts, just pounce on it”.

A third Twitter user, called Ashwani, who has shared the picture with a lewd caption, is even followed by Union Commerce and Railways Minister Piyush Goyal.

Fact check

In the original photograph, Lamba is wearing the T-shirt with the Indian flag pinned on her chest portion. Lamba had shared the picture on 15 August this year and she can be seen pointing to the national flag.

The original photograph has been edited to replace the national flag with the Congress election symbol on Lamba’s T-shirt.

Lamba took to Twitter Tuesday and clarified that the picture was fake.

“Stupid blind devotees are spreading indecency by tampering with a photo of mine. I just want to say that these are the same people whose mothers, sisters and other women in their house shut doors before sleeping as they fear their presence in the house,” she tweeted.
