New Delhi: After Jason Roy’s whirlwind century against Lahore Qalandars in the ongoing Pakistan Super League, fans have started guessing which IPL team will go for the English batter when the bids open for the tournament next week. Roy, whose base price for the auction is set at Rs two crore, has made his PSL debut late but worth the wait, blasting 116 off 57 balls, earning Quetta Gladiators a big win. After Monday’s destructive show by Roy, fans were quick to share memes capturing reactions of IPL franchise owners.

The English batter’s performance led to speculation as to which IPL team will take him in their teams.

A Twitter user argued that “Jason Roy went unsold in IPL. The batting talent they (IPL) have is unreal that one of the best couldn’t make it”. Another disagreed and hit back, saying “Btw u must know Jason Roy is the best white ball opener for England and is an automatic choice in national team. He don’t need any endorsement from IPL to be called great???”.

Underlining Roy’s remarkable counter-attack, a user imagined the feeling in the Lahore Qalandars’s bowling camp. Another pointed out how the match had turned “Lahore Roy” (Lahore crying) and “Jason Dhoye” (Roy’s butchering of bowlers).

In a reminder of sorts that Pushpa memes are still trending, a user posted one from the movie, hinting at Roy’s attacking intent.

Another fan showed Roy as the super saviour for Quetta Gladiators, reassuring his skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed: “tension ne leni, bhai aa gya hai”.

Some pointed out how the joke was on Lahore Qalandars who were brimming with confidence after putting a huge total on the board and so missed seeing Roy on his way to crash their party.

Using a still from the popular Indian TV show Crime Patrol that had anchor Anup Soni, a user portrayed the mindset of Lahore Qalandars players: “Us bechare ko bhanak tak ni thi uske sath kya hone wala hai”.

There were also those who turned poetic: “Mere Haath Mein Bat Hai Koi Asla To Nahi, Chakkay Shakkay Maar Loon Koi Masla To Nahi”, said another user with a mugshot of Roy.
