New Delhi: Donald Trump is at it again. While addressing a rally in Arizona on Wednesday ahead of the midterm elections, the US President claimed that he is “No. 1” on TikTok, the popular Chinese social media app.
“You know who is No. 1 on TikTok? Remember?” Trump asked, before comparing his following on the app to that of singer Taylor Swift.
“Taylor Swift is 19, I’m No. 1. Can you believe this?” the President said, claiming that “they just sent out the ratings”.
The President didn’t stop here. He went on to claim that he made $10 billion “for our country” through the app, and all he does is say “good things about us”.
For Trump, he deserved to be thanked for that.
“Nobody appreciates me?” he said.
So, is Trump really ranked No. 1 on TikTok?

What stats say
As of 15 October, several social media analytics websites rank content creator Khaby Lame as No. 1 on TikTok with about 163 million followers. Next comes American social media personality Charli D’Amelio who has over 160 million followers. Trump, meanwhile, is not even in the Top 100. His current following on the app stands at around 16.6 million.
However, he is the most-followed world leader on TikTok.
The President was not right about Taylor Swift’s ranking either, who has a following of 33.5 million and is not ranked No. 19.
This is not the first time that Trump has made such claims. In July this year too, he claimed that he had surpassed Taylor Swift on TikTok.
“You know who the No. 1 person on TikTok is by far? Trump. Me,” he said, adding that Taylor was ranked No. 11.
On July 6, during a press conference at the White House, Trump diverted from discussing China and TikTok and started praising himself.
“The new numbers just came out. You know who the No. 1 person on TikTok is by far? Trump, me. I’m No. 1,” the President said.
