New Delhi: Tilly Norwood is set to lead Misaligned, produced by Particle 6, but this announcement has driven the internet into a frenzy. Why? Because Norwood is an AI-generated actor.

First introduced to the world in 2025, the “actor” sparked a frenzy about the future of acting and whether emotions were still human. Now, Norwood is debuting in a comedy-drama, described by the production house that is both producing Misaligned and created Norwood as a “coming-of-age story infused with existential AI chaos.”

The film is set inside “Tillyverse,” a virtual land which follows Norwood, who has no body and no real experiences except access to everyone else.

The feature is a “hybrid production” and will use traditional film, as well as directors, writers and editors working alongside AI specialists.

Eline van der Velden, CEO & Founder of Particle 6, told Variety that AI can support premium narrative filmmaking, but only with substantial amounts of human craft, skill, judgement and time.

“That’s not a limitation of the technology. That’s the point. The filmmakers who thrive in the next decade will be the ones who bring decades of storytelling instinct to these new tools, and ‘Misaligned’ is where we put that to work at feature scale,” van der Velden said.

The Dutch comedian and writer went on to describe Misaligned as “funny, chaotic, self-aware and very Tilly,” adding that “art will most definitely be imitating life.”

The film is currently in development, and no release date has been announced yet.
