New Delhi: Spider-Man: Brand New Day screenings and premieres across the world have seen fans and influencers arrive in replica suits, spiderweb outfits, and themed accessories inspired by the superhero as the film opened in cinemas this week.

The looks follow Zendaya’s promotional wardrobe for the film, which has repeatedly used Spider-Man’s colours, web motifs, and other references to the character. The practice, commonly called method dressing, has spread from the cast to regular moviegoers and invited creators.

In San Antonio, the US, a person bought an entire row for a Friday screening at the Palladium theatre and invited others to attend in costume or Spider-Man-themed clothes. “My friends and I are already going dressed as characters (Spider-people/Punisher) and we’d love for it to be an even bigger thing,” the Reddit user wrote

Another Reddit user, GabryMancio, who is based in Italy, bought a replica of the suit worn in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and posted photographs of it ahead of the film’s release. “Can’t wait to wear it at the cinema!” the user wrote.

At the London premiere on Wednesday, presenter and content creator Zainab Jiwa wore a red-and-black outfit with pearl strands arranged like a spiderweb, along with spider-themed mehndi across her hands. “I did some spider mendhi to celebrate the #spiderman premiere tonight,” Jiwa wrote on X.

At the same premiere, fashion and beauty influencer Atifa Arshad wore a black saree embroidered with a large crimson-beaded spider web and paired it with a crystal-covered blouse. Sharing photographs of the completed look, an X user wrote, “Jaw is on the floor this pakistani baddie is killing it at the spiderman premiere”.

The film released in India on 30 July, a day before its wider US release on Friday.
