New Delhi: Actor Sonu Sood criticised BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut for her comments on Gen Z protesters, calling her “Generation Gutter” remark “very shameful” and saying young people should be spoken about with respect.
Sood made the remarks during a media interaction Wednesday, when he was asked about Ranaut’s Instagram posts on the CJP-led student protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. The protests were held over alleged paper leaks and irregularities in the NEET-UG examination.
“I haven’t heard her statement. But I feel that these young people are the ones who make actors, and they are the ones who help you reach this position,” Sood said. “As long as they stand by you, you will continue to thrive. If they are not with you, it becomes difficult. That’s why everyone should be taken along.”
Asked about Ranaut referring to Gen Z as “Generation Gutter”, Sood said, “If she has said that, then I think it is very shameful. It should not have been said.”
Sood also said that people in public life should weigh their words carefully. “There is a saying, ‘Tol mol ke bol’ (weigh your words before speaking),” he said. “It is very important to think carefully before you speak because the public is another form of God.”
Sood commented on the protests themselves, saying the concerns of young people should be heard.
“The voice of the youth is very important,” he said, but added that such movements could sometimes be diverted from their original issue. He said the focus should remain on the students’ concerns and added that the government was trying, but the relationship between young people and the government needed to improve.

‘Generation Gutter’
Ranaut had earlier criticised videos from the protests in an Instagram story.
“Never in my life have I seen so much ugliness in one place. These reels from Gen Z protests are puke-inducing,” she wrote.
She called the youth “Generation Gutter” and alleged that some of them had “nothing to offer to the system”. She also made comments about their studies, appearance and domestic roles, drawing criticism from social media users and public figures.
