New Delhi: Harvard University is set to bring its executive education programmes to Hyderabad starting in December.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced the plan last week while meeting a 30-member delegation representing UK universities and business schools at the Dr Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute (MCRHRDI) in Hyderabad.
However, the announcement does not mean that the Ivy League school is setting up a full-fledged university campus in the state. The initiative currently concerns executive education programmes, with details of the courses, eligibility and fees yet to be announced.
Reddy said that the state government is working to develop Telangana as a “global knowledge hub” and will support international universities and business schools seeking a presence in the state.
“The world is looking towards Hyderabad. Not just for investments & business, but for knowledge, skills, talent, innovation and the ideas that will shape the future of the world,” wrote Reddy on X.
Academic collaborations
The move follows a series of efforts by the Telangana government to bring global institutions to Hyderabad.
Reddy has said that discussions are also underway with institutions including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Purdue University for offshore campuses or other academic collaborations.
The state has separately announced that the University of London and Northeastern University, Boston, are set to establish offshore campuses in Hyderabad.
Telangana has also been pursuing collaborations with institutions including Oxford University, Cambridge University, Imperial College London, London Business School and the London School of Economics.
The Hyderabad programme comes months after the CM attended a six-day leadership programme at the Harvard Kennedy School in January 2026. The programme, “Leadership in the 21st Century”, brought together participants from more than 20 countries.
The Telangana government has said that international university partnerships could extend beyond executive education to areas such as professional training, research, faculty development and centres of excellence.
“Our goal is clear: make Telangana a place where the world comes to learn, innovate and invest,” Reddy said.
