New Delhi: As the scale of the “Vijay wave” in Tamil Nadu becomes clear, congratulatory messages have begun pouring in on X and Instagram from Bollywood, Tollywood, and Tamil cinema for the state’s latest movie-star-turned-politician.

Telugu actors Nani, Vijay Deverakonda, Ravi Teja, and Ram Pothineni, Tamil actor Chiyaan Vikram, music composer GV Prakash Kumar, Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, and actor Kajal Aggarwal have all posted as early trends signal victory for Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

In his debut political outing, Vijay has managed to secure a lead in over 100 seats, although his party is yet to touch the majority mark of 118 needed to form an independent government.

The ‘underdog’

One of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars, Vijay has been acting for over four decades, with films such as Mersal, Sarkar, Master, Leo, and The Greatest of All Time behind him. But in politics, he was still an “underdog” as Nani pointed out.

“Underdog winning is always absolute cinema (or should I say absolute politics?),” the Telugu actor posted on X. “First doubted and then crowned. Happened at our home and now it’s happening in our neighbouring home.”

Touching upon a similar theme, Ram Pothineni tweeted: “Sometimes all you need to do is Stand Strong and take every punch life throws at you from every direction.”

Vijay Deverakonda expressed his “admiration” for the people of Tamil Nadu for “turning up so strongly to vote and take a stand.” The actor said that he is excited to see this new “phase and face” of Tamil politics.

Tiger Shroff also congratulated Vijay. “The faith people have in you is amazing to see. More power to you for this next chapter!” he wrote.

Music composer GV Prakash Kumar and actor Chiyaan Vikram called it a historic moment. Vikram even shared an old picture with Vijay to congratulate him.

Actor Ravi Teja, in his tweet, said that he always believed in Vijay’s victory.

“Some things you just know will happen… and I truly believed this was one…Big congratulations on this massive win @actorvijay garu. Wishing you great success as you step into this powerful new phase. Keep leading from the front @TVKVijayHQ!!” his tweet read.

A Rajini blooper

Actor Kajal Aggarwal, meanwhile, initially pulled out a line from Rajinikanth’s Baashha: “Naan oru thadava sonna, nooru thadava sonna maari,” which roughly translates to “If I say it once, it’s as if I’ve said it a hundred times.”

Eagle-eyed fans quickly caught this, with one pointing out that she had quoted a Rajinikanth catchphrase for Vijay, with whom she has done three films. Aggarwal later deleted the post and put up a new one.

This time, there were no catchphrases.

“The people of Tamil Nadu have spoken—loud, clear, and with immense pride. This isn’t just a win, it’s a celebration of a deep, powerful connection with millions,” she wrote.
