New Delhi: British MP Rupert Lowe has a problem with “Pakistanis and Indians” living in the UK. The politician triggered controversy with a series of tweets that targeted immigrants and Muslim communities.
“I don’t believe we should import millions of Pakistanis and Indians to do jobs that unemployed Brits should be doing… If that makes me a racist, then so be it,” Lowe posted on X.
Lowe is the Member of Parliament for Great Yarmouth, and was formerly a member of the Right-wing party Reform UK. He established Restore Britain, a far-Right party, in February 2026. The party’s objectives include “reversing mass immigration” and “restoring Britain’s social and cultural foundations”.
Lowe also linked immigrant communities in the UK to ongoing grooming gang investigations, and called it “something the equivalent of the Holocaust”. The comparison with genocide has especially trigged backlash against the Restore Britain founder.
“While truly appalling, the UK rape gang ‘scandal’ is not equivalent to killing ~19 million people. There’s a whiff of antisemitism is this statement too. Such disrespect for 6million Jews,” wrote Catherine Rawcliffe in a widely viewed tweet.
The politician has refused to apologise for his comments.
“I want to be really clear in my response. I am not going to retract anything, I stand by every single word. Labour are calling for me to apologise. The answer is no,” Lowe wrote.
‘We tell the truth’
In a string of hourly posts Thursday, Lowe said that a Restore Britain government in the UK would ban cousin marriage and carrying the kirpan in public spaces.
In an earlier post, Lowe went on a long rant against what he views as a demographic change in England.
“Some of the high streets in different suburbs of Manchester? It is Islamic. British family run businesses driven away, and it’s a takeover. Colonisation,” read the tweet.
Lowe said he “detests” the sight of women in burqas walking around in the North West.
“Demographic reality is hitting, hard. These people have more children. Lots more children, very often at taxpayer expense. This is just a fact. One that nobody else in Parliament will even touch,” the politician added.
Across Lowe’s personal account and handle for Restore Britain, “we don’t care about being called racist” is a recurring sentiment. Another frequent presence is “We tell the truth”.
Lowe’s posts come as the campaign for Makerfield by-election heats up. Some polls have placed Restore Britain, a relatively obscure party, in third place.
