New Delhi: The last installment in the Drishyam series had the second-biggest opening among the Hindi films of 2026 after Dhurandhar: The Revenge. It collected Rs 66.75 crore net on its opening day. The Ajay Devgn-starrer was released on the national holiday of Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October.
The film has recorded the biggest opening day of Ajay Devgn’s career, surpassing Singham Again (2024), which opened at Rs 43.50 crore. It also went past the opening figures of Singham Returns (2014) at Rs 32.10 crore and Golmaal Again (2017) at Rs 30.14 crore.
The conclusion of a franchise
The Drishyam franchise began in Hindi cinema in 2015 with Devgn playing Vijay Salgaonkar. The first film recorded an opening day collection of Rs 5.85 crore and went on to collect Rs 67.14 crore during its entire theatrical run. The second instalment, Drishyam 2, released in 2022 and opened at Rs 15.38 crore. It went on to collect Rs 64.14 crore during its opening weekend.
The original Drishyam, starring Mohanlal and directed by Jeethu Joseph, was released in Malayalam in 2013. The film was remade in several Indian languages, including Kannada as Drishya (2014), Telugu as Drushyam (2014), Tamil as Papanasam (2015), Hindi as Drishyam (2015), and Sri Lanka’s version in Sinhala as Dharmayuddhaya (2017). The story was also adapted in Chinese as Sheep Without a Shepherd (2019).
The film’s opening also puts it ahead of the Hindi version of Toxic, which collected Rs 55 crore on its opening day, and Border 2, which opened at Rs 30 crore. Dhurandhar: The Revenge remains the highest Hindi opener of 2026 with Rs 145.55 crore.
On the all-time Hindi opening list, Drishyam: The Conclusion currently stands third when paid previews are excluded. In line with Dhurandhar: The Revenge, with Rs 99.10 crore from its Hindi version, and the Hindi-dubbed version of Pushpa 2 (2024), which collected Rs 70.30 crore. Jawan (2023) follows with Rs 65.50 crore.
