New Delhi: Catherine Zeta-Jones hasn’t read her husband Michael Douglas’ new memoir, One Helluva Ride. And she doesn’t seem particularly keen to.

“As much as I love my husband, when I’m tired at night, I have no intention of reading about him at all,” she said on NBC’s Today show on Thursday.

Host Willie Geist had asked Zeta-Jones, 57, whether it was true that she hadn’t read the book. She confirmed that she hadn’t, explaining that she had spent the past several months working, including seven months in Dublin filming Netflix’s Wednesday.

“I just finished Wednesday, season three. We shot in Dublin for seven months,” she said. She then flew to London to work on Amazon Prime’s Kill Jackie, travelled to Bilbao in Spain, and arrived in New York for the Today Show.

‘He got me at a good time’

However, Zeta-Jones encouraged others to read the memoir.

“I mean, the book is called One Hell of a Ride, and I think everyone should hold on to their cowboy hats,” she said.

Geist also brought up something Douglas had said during his own appearance on the show. Douglas had apparently come home one night and peeked around a corner to check whether his wife was upset. When she wasn’t, he figured she either hadn’t read the book or wasn’t bothered by its contents.

“He got me at a good time,” Zeta-Jones replied.

Douglas’ Memoir

Douglas released One Helluva Ride on Tuesday. The memoir contains revelations about his personal life, including a relationship with Kathleen Turner while filming Romancing the Stone (1984) and another with his Basic Instinct (1992) co-star Jeanne Tripplehorn.

He also writes about the early days of his relationship with Zeta-Jones. She wanted them to be monogamous, which meant he had to stop seeing other women.

The book also covers the couple’s separation in 2013 and eventual reconciliation, along with Douglas’ drug use and cancer diagnosis.

Zeta-Jones and Douglas married in November 2000. They have two children, Dylan and Carys, and celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary last year.

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
