New Delhi: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now moving their children to another school in Britain after just two days at their current one.
Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, will now attend a different school after the couple’s security team raised concerns about safely transporting them.
The family lives some distance from the school, and heavy traffic along the route made the journey harder to secure.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved back to Britain with their children last month after six years in California. The young royals were enrolled in school soon after their return.
A spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed the decision on Monday.
“The decision for the children to move school was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements,” the spokesperson said.
However, the spokesperson said the decision was not a reflection on the school itself. The royal couple remains grateful to the teachers and staff for the care they showed the family.
“This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there,” the spokesperson added.
The location of the Sussexes’ new home has not been disclosed. Details of the children’s school have also been kept private.
However, after Markle’s post on social media earlier this week sharing their return to the UK, media outlets and residents managed to identify the location and possible schools in the area. According to social media, several reporters are already lining up near the schools, hoping to catch a first glimpse of the estranged royals.
The Sussexes stepped back as working members of the royal family in 2020 and moved to the United States. As senior working royals, they received automatic police protection in Britain. However, they no longer have that privilege after stepping down.
Since his move, security has been a recurring issue for Prince Harry. The 42-year-old has been critical of the arrangements available to him and his family when they are on British soil.
Those arrangements are now being reviewed following the family’s return. Markle’s security is also being reconsidered for the first time since the couple left the country in 2020.
