New Delhi: Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut went on a social media spree on 24 August, aiming several celebrities who have commented on her in the past, including Taapsee Pannu, Rakhi Sawant, Ashutosh Rana, Sonu Sood and Baba Ramdev.

Ranaut also weighed in on Kriti Sanon’s latest Raksha Bandhan advertisement, questioning the actor’s choice of outfit and calling it “intentionally creepy.”

Sanon recently featured in a jewellery ad for Giva, dressed in an Indo-Western ensemble featuring a bralette-style blouse, cape and draped skirt. The ad drew mixed reactions online, with some users questioning the outfit’s suitability for a campaign centred around a traditional festival.

On Monday evening, Ranaut on Instagram Stories shared her thoughts and questioned the choice of attire.

“It’s a wonderful time to be a woman. Our closets are full of a variety of clothes; today’s woman is a global woman. From cocktail dresses to lehenga cholis, jeans to saris, bikinis to salwar kameez, from all the options that are available to us today, why would you tie your brother a rakhi in your bikini/undergarments? Where are all your styling options? Ha ha, the advert looks intentionally creepy,” she posted.

Ranaut then took a trip down memory lane and called out celebrities who have commented on her “unwanted.”

Taking a dig at them, Ranaut said that she won’t listen to people who haven’t achieved even one per cent of the success she enjoys.

“I see such people every day, whether it is Ashutosh Rana, who says that I bark like a dog; or Sonu Sood, who says that I should learn how to behave. People like Rakhi Sawant, who make all kinds of vulgar comments about my character; and Taapsee Pannu, who have kept insulting my parents, my upbringing and my background,” she posted on X.

The actor then challenged them to become like her.

Unwanted log jo hain mujhe jab dekho 4 gaaliyan dete rehte hain media mein aane ke liye. Pehle aap Kangana Ranaut bano toh sahi (These unwanted people keep hurling abuses at me whenever they can, to get media attention. First, actually become Kangana Ranaut),” she wrote.

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
