New Delhi: Pakistani singer Atif Aslam has said that AR Rahman surprised him by being totally different from his public image.
Aslam made the comments in a recent interview with Curly Tales Middle East.
In a reel, posted on Instagram on Monday, Aslam answered a series of rapid-fire questions, revealing his favourite food, and talking about songs and artists.
When asked about the actor who does the best lip-syncing, Aslam instantly named Ranbir Kapoor.
Atif Aslam has previously collaborated with Ranbir on several popular songs, including “Tera Hone Laga Hoon” and “Tu Jaane Na” from Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009). His voice became closely associated with Kapoor’s romantic roles, with both songs becoming fan favourites.
In August 2018, Aslam had faced criticism for singing a Bollywood song — “Tera Hone Laga Hoon” — during his performance in New York for Pakistan’s Independence Day.
Addressing the controversy, Aslam called the backlash “fake propaganda”.
“The green flag is my identity, and my fans know that I know how to respect it. I am very happy and proud that my fans know how to respond to fake propaganda. I hope that in the new Pakistan, people will learn to respect all those who have made Pakistan proud across the world,” the singer wrote in Urdu in an Instagram post.

New album
During the rapid-fire, Aslam said that his new song “Subah Aye Na” had been on his mind. It is one of the eight tracks of his new album released on 31 July — after nearly two decades. The last full-length album he released was Meri Kahani in 2008.
Aslam will be performing at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on 27 November.
Aslam and Fawad Khan’s Instagram accounts have been restricted for Indian users since last year, following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.
