New Delhi: Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan injured his knee after slipping on the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18. Bachchan himself revealed the injury during Wednesday’s episode.
The 83-year-old delivered his opening monologue from his chair.
“Usually, I do my monologue standing at the centre, but today, I have a knee injury. Yesterday, during the shoot, I slipped and fell with a loud thud and injured my knee. It’s torn,” Big B said.
He added that he had a “little bit of difficulty standing up”. The actor was quick to assure the viewers that the injury was not severe and that he would be fine soon.
“So I had trouble standing up. I thought I would talk while sitting and then play with you standing up later. Don’t worry,” added Bachchan, who is currently hosting the 18th season of KBC.
The show must go on
The veteran actor clarified that he intended to stand up to greet and interact with contestants during the main gameplay segments, while taking brief rests between takes. Bachchan’s medical treatment is being managed directly on set, the actor said, confirming that his professional commitments remain firmly on track.
KBC 18 continues to broadcast on Sony Entertainment Television and streams digitally on SonyLIV.
Bachchan will next be seen in director Nag Ashwin’s sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. He portrays the immortal Mahabharata warrior Ashwatthama in the sci-fi franchise, whose first instalment was nominated in the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Best Special Effects categories at the 72nd National Film Awards.
Bachchan’s last theatrical release was Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s action drama, Vettaiyan (2024).
