New Delhi: N.K. Singh, chairman of the 15th Finance Commission, Friday stressed on the need for simplifying GST in India. Delivering the L.K. Jha Memorial lecture at the RBI headquarters, Singh also spoke about restructuring GST by doing away with complicated procedures and frequent rate changes.
Singh also blamed the current government for not properly defining the role of NITI Aayog, which has no actual power to take any financial decisions as of now. Furthermore, he criticised both central and state governments for its frequent off-budget borrowings.
