New Delhi: Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), the defence subsidiary of Bharat Forge Limited, Monday unveiled its line-up of 155 mm mounted artillery gun systems at Eurosatory 2026, a global defence and security event, in Paris. Highly mobile and easily deployable, the made-in-India MArG (Mounted Artillery Guns) series are the world’s first 155 mm gun system mounted on a 4×4 high mobility vehicle (HMV) .

Prior to this breakthrough, it was believed that mounting anything heavier than a 105 mm gun would render an HMV unstable. Heavier artillery guns would be towed rather than mounted, affecting the response time and making it difficult to change positions in a rapidly evolving scenario.

The series delivers artillery system across three calibre configurations. MArG 39 calibre for enhanced mobility and flexibility, MArG 45 calibre for medium-range firepower and MArG 52 for an extended-range fire capacity.

The company has displayed its 155 mm/39 calibre variant at Eurosatory 2026 for prospective customers across Europe, demonstrating long-range indirect fire capacity with the agility of a 4×4 wheeled platform. The company aims to expand its network in Europe and tap the demand for mobile firepower.

The MArG 155 mm/39 calibre weighs 18 tons and has a carrying capacity of 18 rounds. Taking less than 2 minutes to set up, even during night-time deployment, it can climb slopes (gradients) of up to 30 degrees, making it a go-anywhere gun.

A 4×4 chassis provides better manoeuvrability across a gamut of terrains in comparison to a significantly heavier and larger 6×6 or 8×8 chassis system. The agility is especially useful in contested environments requiring shoot-and-scoot operations.

The system uses NATO-standard 155 mm firepower, including precision-guided munitions (PGMs) and can be used in a mix of scenarios requiring counter battery, interdiction and fire support. It is fully compatible for network-centric warfare and digitised artillery coordination.

Easy deployability of the series underlines a minimal crew operability and a faster reaction time. Because of a lower overall weight the platform is deployable in mountains, deserts or infrastructure-constrained environments. Certain configurations allow air transportability, further enhancing the operational flexibility.

According to KSSL, the company’s engineering pedigree and its metallurgical expertise paved the way for them to develop such a mobile and efficient system for armed forces worldwide.

KSSL has been delivering sovereign defence capability including artillery systems, armoured vehicles, small arms, ammunition and marine unmanned platforms to partner nations. The company, in partnership with AM General, became the first Indian company to supply advanced artillery cannons to the US in 2025.

KSSL also bagged a landmark contract for supplying spare parts for large-calibre artillery systems with the UAE in the same year. The company, as of January 2026, has supplied 72 155mm/39 calibre MArGs to Armenia.

Other than the MArG series, the company developed ATAGS (Advanced Tower Artillery Gun System), a 155mm/52 calibre towed howitzer, in collaboration with the DRDO for the Indian Army. Garuda 105, a 105 mm/37 calibre gun system mounted on a vehicle, and Bharat-52, a 155mm/52 calibre towed artillery gun, are some of the other key artillery systems and guns from KSSL.
