New Delhi: India is sending a tri-services contingent of around 200 personnel to Southern Russia in September for participating in a multi-lateral exercise Kavkaz-2020, Indian Army sources said.

Along with several other countries, troops of China and Pakistan are also likely to participate in the event, sources said. The Indian contingent would include 160 personnel from the army along with 40 troops of the Indian Air Force and two Navy officers for the observers there.

The exercise is being held in the Astrakhan province of Southern Russia where member countries of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and Central Asian countries would be participating.

India had earlier also participated in this exercise with both China and Pakistan as part of it.

  1. This is 56″‘s Atamnirbharata and boycotting Chaina. When he cannot adhere to his words and change his man-ki-bat, what right he has to make the country to suffer by gimmicks and allowing Chaina 50% by back door and 50% for convenience!

  2. Tribhuvan Darbari – It is good news that India is sending a tri-services contingent of around 200 personnel to Southern Russia in September for participating in a multi-lateral exercise Kavkaz-2020. India and Russia have strong relationship. A lot has been said from both governments about the need to give the Indo-Russia ties a new impetus, yet more can be achieved. It is evident, however, that a stronger and more comprehensive relationship with India would help Russia to maintain its equilibrium in Greater Eurasia, including vis-à-vis China. India, too, would clearly benefit from more productive and secure links to Russia.

  3. A contingent of 200 personnel from a country which has 1.5 million strong armed forces is only a token entry. Why bother. Anyway, as a lay person I am unable to see the wisdom of rubbing shoulders with soldiers of enemy countries.
