The wrangling between CM Yogi Adityanath’s UP government and the Congress over buses for migrants is ugly politicisation of an ongoing tragedy. Both sides are guilty of one-upmanship and political skulduggery. Congress should step back and the Yogi government must urgently focus on mitigating the misery of UP’s migrant workers.
UP government is an utter failure in dealing with the situation. They are least bothered about migrant labors. In a situation like this UP government should have accepted the the offer from congress. In fact CM and his acolytes is giving silly excuses to reject the offer.
Far be it from me to take sides in a partisan dispute. However, it is the state government that is primarily responsible for dealing with all aspects of this pandemic, especially as it affects the poor and most vulnerable citizens. If it was doing a fantastic job, space would not have opened up for an opposition party to seek political mileage. Had the railways not charged full fare plus surcharge from desperate migrants, there would have been no occasion for the Congress to appear like Florence Nightingale. 2. As far as fishing in troubled waters is concerned, this happens all over the world. Opposition parties wait for the incumbent to stumble, make their pitch. Recall the battering UPA II took on a daily basis from the opposition. Uss waqt toh media bhi full form mein thi.
