Budget 2022 ticks most of the right boxes with its big focus on boosting growth and creating jobs through high capital expenditure and building infrastructure. It also, thankfully, avoids election season populism, profligacy. The capex commitment, however, needs to be followed up to ensure it doesn’t just remain an announcement.

It’s churlish. So is the Governor’s trolling. They needn’t agree on everything but must find a mature way to work together.

Taliban representatives have met Western diplomats at Oslo’s Soria Moria Hotel—named for a fairytale castle—in a new push for peace. Life in Afghanistan, though, isn’t fairytale: Women, minorities and regime critics are subject to harsh restrictions, and the Taliban still shelter terrorists. These issues should not be ignored.
