Tamil Nadu chief minister M.K. Stalin deserves praise for his initiative to build political consensus and constitute an all-party legislators’ committee on Covid-19. Other governments should take a cue from it. Public representatives in assemblies and Parliament must be involved in fighting the pandemic. Political one-upmanship and whataboutery must stop.

BJP leaders saying coronavirus has right to live shows unpardonable arrogance

BJP ministers, leaders should spare us their pearls of wisdom or faux outrage about coronavirus’ right to live, hanging themselves over vaccine shortages or asking states to be realistic on vaccines. Lack of contrition is one thing. Flippancy and continued arrogance in the face of death and suffering is unpardonable.
