PM Modi isn’t of the “maun” variety. He speaks often and with alacrity on important developments, happy or tragic. His silence, therefore, on Kashmiri editor Shujaat Bukhari’s assassination is intriguing and unwise. India expects more than a studied silence on such a tragedy by an active and voluble prime minister.
A scrambled Kashmir policy that’s only led to disaster
Kashmir is much worse today than 2014 summer when Modi government took over, promising a robust approach. In the Valley and along the LoC, they established a muscular “new normal”. But it has waffled, between blowing hot and cold. The result is strategic and political confusion, and this is disaster.
Speak up on Shujaat Bhukhari…
He was Nikhil Dadhich of Journalists and should be treated accordingly. A man who applauded the Charlie Hebdo killings was killed by his own people is a lesson to all wrong wing media that sitting in the lap of wrong people to counter Right Wing won’t take you far. They do not mind hanging their lapdogs when needed.
