The row over Rahul Gandhi’s citizenship is ridiculous. The BJP’s artful headline management under Modi-Shah is a familiar skill and tactic. But to conjure up a controversy about a three-term MP’s citizenship, especially one who has been on the Parliament committee on defence under your watch, is a pathetic joke.
Army must make quick retreat from its Yeti folly
One thing we know about armies, since the Charge of the Light Brigade, is they hate to cut their losses on the battlefield. Must they do the same on Twitter? Yeti footprint claim was some kind of a Monday five o’ clock folly. A quick retreat will be prudent now.

The British Foreign Office must have a computerised data base of all citizens to whom passports have been issued. There must, equally, be authentic government records on all British citizens, analogous to Aadhaar. It is a simple matter to ascertain from them, officially, whether Shri Rahul Gandhi is or has at any time in the past been a British citizen. There must also be a wealth of government records in India substantiating his unbroken Indian citizenship from birth to the present time.
