But this also amounts to stifling people’s mandate given to lawmakers. Constitution doesn’t obligate governors to obstruct governance in non-BJP-ruled states.

The PIB fact-check endeavour is vague and potentially headed toward censorship. It’s not the government’s domain. In the crowded online town square of ideas, there’s fake content on all sides. Counter it with truth or go to court. Government must not have unchecked power to remove content from intermediary platforms.
